Sustainable lighting is fast gaining ground in the Middle East region, particularly in Dubai, where infrastructure developers are among the early adopters of LED lighting in the region.
In a freewheeling interview with Safety Messenger, Esam R Al Mazroei, Managing Director of Bahri & Mazroei Group, one of UAE’s largest providers of value-added solutions and systems for buildings and infrastructure projects, explains the new trends in lighting.
Bahri & Mazroei Group holds distribution rights for several global brands, and the group’s products and solutions have found their way into some of the region’s biggest landmarks, including Burj Khalifa, Dubai Metro, The New Maktoum International Airport, Sheikh Zayed Tunnel, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Gate Towers, The Abu Dhabi World Trade Center, Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, and New Doha International Airport, among others.
A one-stop-shop for a range of value-added solutions for all categories of buildings and infrastructure development projects, the Group started its operations in 1968 by establishing Bahri & Mazroei Trading Company (BMTC) for product supply and distribution of electrical and lighting solutions. Named after its two founders, the late Salem Humaid Al Bahri and Rashid Humaid Ali Al Mazroei, the Group has expanded its portfolio to include water features.
Bahri & Mazroei Technical Systems (BMTS) is the UAE’s leading systems integrator with solutions in the areas of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Central Battery Emergency Lighting Systems, Public Address, Voice Alarm Systems, Building Management, Security and Access Control, Intelligent Lighting Controls, Power Solutions, Home Automation Solutions, Audio-Visual Solutions, and Facilities Management Systems for different building and infrastructure categories.
Telematics Networking & Communications LLC (Telematics), the Group’s third component, is the region’s leading provider of Converged Building Systems, covering a complete range of ICT and ELV solutions. Telematics delivers quality data and voice- network infrastructure solutions to customers in the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent.
BMTC currently maintains 6 retail outlets across the UAE – in prime locations of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah emirates. These showrooms underline the strong demand for top-quality lighting products and accessories with innovative designs and cutting-edge technology. This chain of outlets now reaches out to its loyal customers by bringing its wide range of products even closer to them.
BMTC has supplied lighting solutions to a wide range of projects including Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, The Nad Al Hammar Tunnel, Tas’heel Offices, Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed Tunnel, Shams Gate, Ferrari Theme Park, CMW Officers Accommodation, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and Sowwah Square, to name a few.
BMTC is the recipient of The Gulf Traffic Award for Innovation in Infrastructure, in 2011, for its innovative tunnel lighting solutions in the Nad Al Hammar Tunnel Project. BMTC’s efforts at promoting green technology won it the Lighting Project of the Year Award at the 2013 edition of Middle East Electricity for the Tasheel Offices in Manara District in Dubai.
