Leave someone a future!
Many relatives say that they have found some comfort in knowing that the loss of their loved one has given someone else the chance to live. Organ donation is the gift of an organ to help someone else who needs a transplant. Hundreds of people’s lives are saved each year by the generosity of organ donors. Lately in Kerala, after the successful case of the heart re-transplantation done by Dr. Jose Chacko Periyapuram has won him many accolades. India needs more efficient and sincere doctors like Mr. Jose Cahcko. We also need donors who are ready to give someone else a life. People always hesitate to make such giving decisions if their dear ones are dead. But, one timely decision can give life to someone else.
Organs that can be donated after death include the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, pancreas and small bowel. Tissue such as skin, bone, heart valves and corneas can also be used to help others. Doctors and nurses are committed to doing everything possible to save life and organ donation only takes place after a patient has died. Most donated organs come from people who die while on a ventilator in an intensive care unit, following a severe brain injury.
Transplants are one of the most miraculous achievements of modern medicine. But they depend entirely on the generosity of donors and their families who are willing to make this lifesaving gift to others. But, it is also necessary that the authorities take care the hospitals do not make a business of it.
