Dangers of Geneticaly Modified Food

apple with orange contentEvery day we consume lots of frozen, canned and boxed food items without knowing what it is really made of or contains. A growing body of evidence connects GMOs with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights. V G Ganesh network engineer in Arkansas,US discusses on the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) that are found in 80% of the food items available to us and the safety aspects of using it.

Some of us, that is, 8 in 9 people on Earth, according to the World Food Programme, eat to live and some lucky ones from that group live to eat. But how often during the process of eating do you really think about the source or origin of your food? You could be as close to its origin as your own backyard or balcony, or even some farmland not too far from where you live if it is from the local farmers market. Or, it could have travelled across the country or even maybe imported from another country halfway across the world.

The more we distance ourselves from the source of our food, the bigger the chance that there are ingredients in our food that we are not aware Health of.
