India Lagging Behind in Safety: Kerala Lobour Minister
Kochi: “Safety is the most important aspect of this era and when India’s safety measures are compared globally, we are lagging far behind and it is expected that Safety Messenger Magazine can create a change”. Mr.Shibu Baby John, Minister for Labour of the Kerala Government observed. He was launching the Safety Messenger magazine, the pioneer publication coming in the arena of Health, Safety and Environment.
Mr. Shibu Baby John also compared construction safety of Kerala with other states of India. He said, “We are far behind in construction safety and considering the safety of our construction workers, Government of Kerala is initiating talks with the New India Assurance Company to formulate a scheme for the construction workers. He also stressed the need for creating awareness among people to protect the environment and it must be started from our schools and children. Safety Messenger, dealing on subjects of health, safety and environment can do a lot in this area, he pointed out. The Labour Minister officially released the first copy of the magazine by handing it over to Shri. Abdul Nazer former Joint Director, Factories & Boilers Inspectorate in a glittering function organized at hotel Holiday Inn, Cochin. “If we need to have a safety culture, we must build an attitude and be aware of safety aspects” said Mr. Abdul Nazer and hoped that Safety Messenger can do this work successfully.
While briefing on the magazine, Shri. M.V Thomas, Founder of NIFE and Chief Editor of Safety Messenger said, “HSE is the need of the hour and Safety Messenger is a comprehensive magazine for safety workers and for everyone who is working in the field of safety”.
Shri.Hibi Eden, MLA, and PSC Chairman Dr.K.S.Radhakrishnan while speaking on the occasion pointed out the relevance of such a magazine in the present situation. Shri. K.K.Madhusudanan Nair, Executive Editor of the magazine welcomed the gathering and Shri. Sujith, General Manager of NIFE Fire Systems Pvt. Ltd proposed vote of thanks.
The magazine will cover various topics on Health, Safety and Environment focusing on various industries and subjects that are relevant. The magazine will roll out on the first week of every month and is priced Rs 100/ per issue.
