The tragic collapse of a multi-storeyed apartment complex under construction in suburbs of the South Indian metropolis of Chennai on June 28, 2014 has exposed the rampant safety violations in the construction industry. An enquiry is on and as many as 700 suspected constructions in the metropolis are being subjected to inspection. But the crucial question is whether the tragedy will serve as an eye opener in its true sense!
